"MageTrain: Fast-Paced Pixel Roguelike Now on Android"

Tidepool Games has just released a thrilling new game for Android enthusiasts called MageTrain, a fast-paced pixel art 'snakelike' roguelike that draws heavy inspiration from the classic Nimble Quest. If you loved the mechanics of Nimble Quest, MageTrain will feel right at home.

What’s MageTrain Like?

MageTrain ingeniously blends elements of Snake, auto-battlers, and roguelikes. You command a line of heroes that trail behind you in a snake-like formation, each autonomously attacking as you navigate through an arena. Your primary task is to strategically position your heroes to avoid collisions with enemies or obstacles, while deciding who should lead and who should support, as their abilities vary based on their position in the train.

At launch, MageTrain offers nine unique heroes, including one that amusingly throws birds. Each hero brings different skills to the table, which can change depending on their role within the group. As you progress, you'll traverse eight distinct dungeons, battle against 28 enemy types, and unlock 30 skills to enhance your team. Along the way, you'll gather gold and power-ups to bolster your chances of success.

The roguelike nature of MageTrain ensures that no two runs are the same. You'll navigate through branching paths, make strategic choices, and aim to survive as long as possible. This structure is reminiscent of games like Slay the Spire or FTL, where levels are not fixed and progress cannot be saved. If you make a mistake or get overrun by enemies, you'll need to start anew.

It Isn’t Slow-Paced

The excitement of MageTrain lies in the continuous improvement you experience with each run, even if you don't always win. You'll learn when to play defensively, when to go on the offensive, and when to simply hold on for another 30 seconds.

MageTrain is now available for free on Android, so don't miss out—head over to the Google Play Store to give it a try.
