Second Dinner, a California-based studio, developed the game, but it is published by ByteDance subsidiary Nuverse. Consequently, Marvel Snap was banned alongside apps like CapCut and Lemon8. On January 18, 2025, the game was removed from iOS and Android platforms.
Despite widespread player complaints about access issues, the game remains available on Steam for PC users. Second Dinner’s developers expressed shock at the ban and are actively working to restore access. A Platform X statement noted:
“Marvel Snap isn’t going anywhere. We’re working tirelessly to bring the game back online and will keep players updated on our progress.”
Players were particularly frustrated by the lack of prior warning. Many were unaware of the potential ban and continued making in-game purchases.
While Marvel Snap was affected, not all ByteDance apps faced restrictions. Games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain accessible.
We recently covered the addition of the Moonstone card, a new meta-shifting Ongoing archetype card. As a 4-cost, 6-power card, Moonstone copies the ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in her lane.
With a wide pool of low-cost Ongoing cards available in Marvel Snap, Moonstone’s ability to replicate their effects makes her exceptionally powerful. Unlike cards like Ant-Man or U.S. Agent, which focus solely on generating power, Moonstone can rapidly scale by adopting these effects at no additional cost.
