Metaphor: ReFantazio has a chance to become a series - game director

Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Currently, there are no concrete plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel. However, Hashino emphasized his commitment to completing the current project, a game initially conceived as the third major JRPG series following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. His ambition is for it to become Atlus' flagship title.

While a direct sequel is unlikely, the team is already working on a new project. An anime adaptation of Metaphor: ReFantazio, Atlus' most successful platform launch to date, is also under consideration.

The game has achieved impressive concurrent player numbers, peaking at over 85,961. This surpasses the concurrent player counts of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
