Metro Series: New Game Confirmed by 4A Games

By OliverMar 12,2025

The recent emergence of Reburn, a studio founded by former members of 4A Games Ukraine (creators of the acclaimed Metro series), has prompted 4A Games to reassure fans of their continued commitment to the franchise. This clarification follows Reburn's announcement of their debut project, La Quimera, which naturally raised questions about the future of Metro.

4A Games Confirms Development of New Metro Game with Dmitry Glukhovsky

In an official statement, 4A Games addressed any confusion, congratulating Reburn on La Quimera while simultaneously emphasizing their unwavering dedication to the Metro series. The statement clearly stated: “We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games. Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception.”

Beyond the upcoming Metro sequel, 4A Games hinted at development on a completely new intellectual property (IP), although details remain under wraps. They highlighted their pride in their Ukrainian heritage and diverse team, noting that approximately 150 of their over 200 employees remain based in Kyiv, with additional offices in Sliema, Malta, and remote workers.

Regarding the organizational split, 4A Games explained: “Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn.”

Since the release of Metro Exodus in early 2019, anticipation for the next entry in the series has steadily grown, fueled by limited updates. While spin-offs and enhanced editions like the Enhanced Edition have kept fans engaged, many eagerly await the next chapter in Dmitry Glukhovsky’s post-apocalyptic world. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), the studio initially teased a new Metro title in 2019, suggesting a release window of "202X," before becoming quiet. Now, it appears that the wait may finally be drawing to a close.
