Konami Hints at MGS4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports
MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 May Include Metal Gear Solid 4
Konami producer Noriaki Okamura, in a recent IGN interview, subtly hinted at the possibility of a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (MGS4) remake within MGS Master Collection Vol. 2, alongside next-gen console ports. While acknowledging the significant fan interest in bringing the 2008 title to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Okamura remained cautious about revealing concrete details.
Okamura stated, "We are aware of the interest surrounding MGS4. However, with Vol. 1 encompassing MGS 1-3, we're not ready to discuss specifics yet. Our focus is on the future of the series. We'll share more information when we can."
The possibility of an MGS4 PS5 port, and its inclusion in Master Collection Vol. 2, has been a topic of much discussion. The successful release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, featuring remastered versions of the first three games on various platforms, including PC and Switch, fuels this speculation.
Further fueling the rumors, placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker appeared on Konami's official timeline, suggesting their potential inclusion in Vol. 2. IGN also reported on this, adding to the anticipation. However, official confirmation from Konami is still pending.
David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, added to the speculation last November with a social media hint suggesting his involvement in an MGS4-related project. Despite the mounting evidence, Konami remains tight-lipped about the contents and release plans for a potential MGS4 remake or port within Master Collection Vol. 2.
