Monster Hunter Wilds Day One Patch: File Size Revealed

The day-one patch for *Monster Hunter Wilds* has been released, and it comes with a substantial file size of 18GB. This significant update first rolled out on PlayStation 5, with plans to extend it to other platforms soon. Although Capcom has not yet provided detailed patch notes, the community speculates on the contents of this update.

Many fans believe that the patch includes high-resolution textures, which were absent in the review copies. These textures would enhance the game's visual quality, explaining the large file size due to the space required for such detailed graphics. Additionally, since the patch debuted on PS5, it might incorporate enhancements for the PS5 Pro. Capcom has confirmed that *Monster Hunter Wilds* will be optimized for PS5 Pro at launch, suggesting that this update could improve gameplay performance for console players.

Another expected component of this update is a suite of bug fixes. Despite Capcom's efforts to polish the game, numerous bugs still need addressing, and it's typical for such fixes to be included in the initial patch.

While termed a day-one patch, those who pre-ordered the game can download it before the official release date. Players with slower internet connections are advised to install the patch before February 28 to ensure a seamless first playthrough. It's important to note that this patch, despite its size, is considered a minor update labeled as version 1.000.020, focusing primarily on improving gameplay and fixing bugs rather than introducing new content.

For those eager for new content, *Monster Hunter Wilds* will offer post-launch DLC. Three paid DLC packs are planned, alongside two free content updates. The first free DLC, arriving in spring, will introduce Mizutsune and new event quests. Further content updates in the summer will add new monsters and missions.

*Monster Hunter Wilds* is set to launch on PC and consoles on February 28.
