Eerie Worlds: A Tactical CCG Featuring Global Folklore Monsters
Rifts are rarely good news in games, but Avid Games has embraced the chaos with its new tactical CCG, Eerie Worlds. Following the success of Cards, the Universe and Everything, this monster-themed game promises fun and learning.
Eerie Worlds features a diverse roster of monsters inspired by real-world mythology and folklore. From Japanese Yokai like Jikininki and Kuchisake-onna to Slavic creatures such as Vodyanoy and Psoglav, the game boasts a global range of terrifying creatures. Bigfoot, Mothman, the Nandi Bear, El Chupacabra, and countless others populate the card roster, each accompanied by detailed descriptions.
The game features four Alliances (Grimbald, Zerrofel, Rivin, and Synnig) and multiple Hordes, adding significant tactical depth. Monsters may share some properties but differ in others, creating strategic complexity.
Players build a "Grimoire" – their personal monster collection – by merging duplicate cards. The game starts with 160 basic cards, with many more unlockable through merging, and more planned for future updates.
Two additional Hordes are promised within the next few months, ensuring ongoing strategic challenges.
Gameplay involves a nine-card deck (eight monsters, one world card) and nine 30-second turns. Players must strategically manage mana, exploit synergies, and make high-stakes decisions.
