This revelation arrives amidst a wave of fan discontent, some expressing their disappointment through unacceptable threats against the development team. MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh responded with a heartfelt message, pleading with players to cease the harassment.
Huynh offered an apology to fans whose desired characters didn't make the cut, expressing hope they'll find enjoyment in the final Season 5 content. He explained that character selection involves numerous complex factors, and his personal influence is less significant than some players believed.
Following the shutdown announcement, some players aired their grievances about unspent in-game tokens—a promised perk for the $100 premium edition. This unfulfilled promise may have contributed to the escalating threats.
