MultiVersus, the Warner Bros. platform fighter, is ending its run. Player First Games announced that Season 5, launching February 4th, will be the game's last, with servers shutting down May 30th, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. This news, revealed via a blog post, concludes the game's lifespan just shy of its first anniversary.
The studio confirmed that online play will cease on May 30th, but offline local and training modes will remain accessible, preserving access to all earned and purchased content. A heartfelt thank you to players was included in the announcement.

Real-money transactions have already ended, but Gleamium and character tokens can still be used until the May 30th shutdown. The game will also be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store at that time.
This closure follows reports of MultiVersus' underperformance and a significant financial writedown for Warner Bros. Discovery. A $100 million writedown was attributed to the game's poor performance in a November financial call, adding to the $300 million total following the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This financial setback also coincided with the departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad.
Despite the game's imminent closure, Season 5 will include new content, notably the addition of Lola Bunny (unlockable via a daily calendar reward) and Aquaman (available through the battle pass) as playable characters. Both arrive next week.
