Netflix has officially partnered with the creators of the critically acclaimed game Sifu to bring its intense narrative to the big screen. Announced back in 2022, the film adaptation was initially being developed by Story Kitchen in collaboration with Sloclap, the game's developer. However, according to recent updates from Deadline, the production team has seen a significant expansion.

The streaming giant has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his work on the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to write the screenplay. Although Derek Kolstad, who was previously involved in adapting Sifu's story, may still have a role, his current involvement in the project remains uncertain.
The project has also attracted high-profile talent with Chad Stahelski, the director behind the John Wick series, and his production company 87Eleven Entertainment joining as executive producers. Stahelski is concurrently working on another notable video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima.
Since its release in 2022, Sifu has achieved remarkable success, selling over one million copies within the first three weeks. The game centers around a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that allows resurrection at the expense of aging several years, the protagonist navigates a perilous journey through a world filled with danger and intrigue.
