Team Ninja has rolled out an expansive update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, now at version 1.0.7.0, which introduces New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and several other enhancements. This patch, eagerly anticipated since Team Ninja's commitment to address fan feedback in January, is now accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, as well as PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store.
With New Game Plus, players can embark on a fresh journey at any previously conquered difficulty level, bringing along their amassed weapons and Ninpo, albeit reset to Level 1. It's worth noting that this mode doesn't allow players to leap directly into a higher difficulty level.
The quality of life improvements continue with the option to conceal the projectile weapon on the player's back. This feature can be toggled in the Game Settings under the Options menu, enhancing the visual experience for those who prefer a cleaner look.
On the balance front, Team Ninja has made strategic adjustments: reducing enemy Hit Points in Chapters 8 and 11, increasing enemy numbers in Chapters 13 and 14, and boosting the damage output of certain attacks by Ayane.
The patch also includes essential bug fixes, addressing issues on high-performance PCs, game-breaking bugs in specific chapters, and other minor glitches. The comprehensive patch notes are listed below.
Ninja Gaiden Black 2 made a surprising debut during the January Xbox Developer Direct. This revamped version of the iconic action game, powered by Unreal Engine 5, not only enhances visual fidelity but also introduces new playable characters and improved battle support features.
In IGN's 8/10 review of Ninja Gaiden Black 2, it was noted that "while fewer enemies with more health might not make it the definitive version, it's a stunning and substantial upgrade from its Sigma 2 counterpart, remaining a top-tier action game."
