Nintendo's Alarmo alarm clock: Japan release delayed despite global availability. Due to unexpectedly high demand and insufficient stock, Nintendo Japan has postponed the general retail release of the Alarmo.
Production Shortages Lead to Delay
Nintendo's official announcement cites production and inventory issues as the reason for the delay. Initially slated for a February 2025 launch, the general sale in Japan is now postponed indefinitely. The impact on international stock remains unclear, with a general release in other regions still planned for March 2025.
In the interim, Nintendo Japan will offer a pre-order system exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Pre-orders are scheduled to open in mid-December, with shipments beginning in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date will be announced later.
A Popular Gaming Alarm Clock
The Alarmo, launched in October 2024, features iconic melodies from popular Nintendo franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and RingFit Adventure, with additional sounds promised via future updates.
Its immediate popularity overwhelmed Nintendo, leading to the suspension of online orders and a lottery system for online purchases. Physical stock quickly sold out in Japanese and New York Nintendo stores.
