The Magical Magus primarily utilizes fire-based attacks. Equipping fire-resistant accessories (found in golden chests throughout the dungeon) is crucial for survival. These accessories are also beneficial for the final boss fight.
Be prepared for the Magical Magus's powerful attacks. When it begins charging magic, guard on your next turn. Its Agilao spell (a boosted tier two magic attack) can easily wipe out unprepared party members. While Hysterical Slap is a damaging physical attack (hitting twice), Agilao poses the greater threat. Strategically, it's advisable for Chie and Yosuke to focus on guarding, leaving the offensive to the protagonist.
Early-Game Persona with Light Skills
The Archangel Persona is your best bet early in the game for dealing with the Magical Magus. It naturally possesses Hama (an instant-kill attack against light weaknesses) and learns Media at level 12 (a valuable healing skill for the final boss). Archangel is a level 11 Persona, fused from:
