Pokemon Legends: Z-A: August 2025 Release Date Rumor

A potential release date for Pokemon Legends: Z-A has surfaced online, pointing to an August 15, 2025 launch. This date, initially spotted on Amazon UK in early January 2025, aligns with The Pokémon Company's previously stated 2025 release window.

The game, announced during the February 2024 Pokémon Day celebration, is a sequel to the exploration-focused Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Unlike previous entries, Arceus prioritized open-ended gameplay and collection over traditional gym battles and the Pokémon League. Since its announcement, official information on Pokemon Legends: Z-A has been scarce.

The Amazon UK listing briefly showing the August 15th date, quickly corrected to December 31st, fueled speculation. This aligns with the anticipated 2025 release window.

February 2025 Confirmation Possible

The official release date may be revealed sooner than expected. Similar to its initial announcement during Pokémon Day 2024, the release date could be unveiled during the 2025 event, scheduled for February 27th (the anniversary of the original Pokemon Red and Green releases). Recent findings from a Pokemon GO datamine support this February 27th date.

Beyond the release date, fans anticipate a gameplay reveal, potentially debuting at the same Pokémon Presents broadcast.

Switch and Switch 2 Compatibility Confirmed

Initially announced as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will also be playable on the upcoming Switch 2, thanks to confirmed backward compatibility. While past mainline Pokémon games have featured paid DLC, Pokemon Legends: Arceus only received one free post-launch update, "Daybreak."
