2024: A Year of Exceptional Comics
In 2024, readers found comfort in familiar narratives, yet this year's offerings transcended the ordinary, pushing creative boundaries. Sifting through the countless comics from major publishers and the diverse graphic novels available is a monumental task. This list highlights some of 2024's standout titles.
A Few Notes Before We Begin:

- Minimum Length: Only series with at least 10 issues are included. This excludes newer titles like Ultimates, Absolute Batman, recent X-titles, and Aaron's Ninja Turtles.
- Overall Ranking: The ranking considers all issues, regardless of release year, including those from earlier arcs. Exceptions: Jed McKay's Moon Knight and Joshua Williamson's Robin.
- Anthologies Excluded: Anthologies like Action Comics and Batman: The Brave and the Bold are omitted due to their varied authorship.

Batman: Zdarsky Run
A technically impressive but ultimately underwhelming comic. The fight against the wrong Batman proved tedious, except for a compelling neuro-arc with the Joker.
Nightwing by Tom Taylor
Had this series concluded earlier, it would have ranked much higher. However, the later issues bogged down in filler. While flawed, the series still contained moments of brilliance.
Blade + Blade: Red Band
A satisfyingly bloody action comic perfectly capturing the essence of the Daywalker, filling the void while the film was in development.
Vengeance of the Moon Knight + Moon Knight: Fist of Khonshu
A mixed bag for Moon Knight. The rushed resurrection undermined character development and plot points. Hopes remain for future installments to rectify these issues.
Outsiders
A Planetary-inspired series seamlessly integrated into the DC Universe. While the meta-commentary is predictable, it doesn't detract from the overall quality.
Poison Ivy
A surprisingly long-running series (30+ issues!) with a consistent psychedelic charm, offering moments of brilliance alongside slower stretches.
Batman and Robin by Joshua Williamson
Williamson's return to Damien Wayne tackles new challenges (school!), delivering a compelling coming-of-age story with strong father-son dynamics.
Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver
A charming and visually appealing Dark Horse comic. Its simple yet effective storytelling is its greatest strength.
The Flash Series by Simon Spurrier
A challenging read, rewarding those willing to engage with its complex narrative. The unpredictable storyline keeps readers hooked.
The Immortal Thor by Al Ewing
While potentially tedious for some, Ewing's long-running narrative and stunning artwork maintain a compelling draw.
Venom + Venom War
A chaotic yet inspiring series, leaving a lasting impact on readers.
John Constantine, Hellblazer: Dead in America
A masterpiece in its first half, faltering slightly in the second. Despite its flaws, Spurrier's brilliant portrayal of Constantine shines through.
Ultimate X-men by Peach Momoko
A unique blend of manga, psychological horror, and X-Men, elevated by Momoko's consistent and stunning artwork.
