Johansson's definitive stance came in response to persistent fan theories and hopes for Black Widow's return. "Natasha is dead. She is dead. *She's dead.* Okay?" she stated, underscoring the finality of her character's fate. Black Widow, portrayed by Johansson, last appeared in the 2021 standalone film but met her end in 2019's Avengers: Endgame, sacrificing herself to save Clint Barton, played by Jeremy Renner. Despite the clear narrative closure, fans have continued to speculate about potential comebacks.

"They just don't want to believe it," Johansson remarked about the fans' reluctance to accept Black Widow's death. "They’re like, ‘But she could come back!’ Look, I think the balance of the entire universe is held in her hand. We’re going to *have* to let it go. She saved the world.
