SoMoGa Inc. has unleashed a revitalized version of Vay on Android, iOS, and Steam. Vay, a classic 16-bit RPG, returns with stunning updated visuals, a streamlined user interface, and controller support.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay received a 2008 iOS re-release courtesy of SoMoGa. This latest iteration builds upon that legacy.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
This updated Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is its adjustable difficulty settings. Auto-saving is included for added convenience, and Bluetooth controller support allows for flexible gameplay. Players can acquire new equipment and items, learn new spells as characters level up, and even utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war, Vay unfolds on a technologically underdeveloped planet after a colossal, malfunctioning war machine crashes. Programmed for destruction, this machine unleashes devastation.
Players undertake a quest to rescue their abducted wife, a mission that may ultimately save the world. Their wedding day is disrupted by an attack, leading to an epic journey to thwart the destructive war machines.
Vay's captivating narrative blends nostalgia with modern elements. It retains its JRPG roots, with experience and gold gained through random encounters. The game features nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes, available in both English and Japanese audio.
Download the premium version of the revamped Vay from the Google Play Store for $5.99. For more gaming news, check out our other articles, including the Loving Reveries update in Tears of Themis.
