Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed in an interview with Decider that he hasn't yet recorded any lines, and that many aspects of the film are still "being figured out."
This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, given the five-year gap between the first and second films.
"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked if production had commenced. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised to become a significant antagonist in the third installment. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse: He plays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges at the film's conclusion not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.
In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider bite intended for Miles shifted to the main timeline, resulting in a different outcome. Without his Spider-Man transformation, and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, Miles's Earth fell under the control of supervillains, leading him down a villainous path.
The narrative of how this villainous Miles interacts with the main protagonist Miles will likely be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will have to exercise patience, as Deadline suggests a release date no earlier than 2026, or potentially as late as 2028 if the previous release schedule is maintained.
