Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, affecting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs which halved the testing team's size.
The studio has struggled throughout 2024 to maintain the struggling Suicide Squad game, which suffered from low popularity and, according to Warner Bros., approximately $200 million in losses. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.
These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also laid off 99 employees in December.
The game's early access release further exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a significant plot spoiler. Negative reviews from major gaming publications and widespread gameplay complaints led to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, as reported by McLuck analytics.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
