TikTok App Blocked in the USA

By SkylarFeb 25,2025

TikTok's U.S. ban is now in effect, blocking access for American users. Attempts to open the app result in a message stating its unavailability due to recently enacted legislation. While the message expresses hope for a future reinstatement under a potential Trump administration, no concrete plans have been announced. A Supreme Court appeal was unsuccessful, with the court citing national security concerns related to data collection and ties to a foreign entity, despite acknowledging TikTok's popularity and expressive function. Although President Trump suggested a possible 90-day delay to allow for a U.S. or allied buyer to acquire the app, this hasn't materialized, leading to the immediate ban. Concurrently, other apps affiliated with ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, including CapCut, Lemon8, and Marvel Snap, have also become inaccessible.
