WB Reportedly Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC

By PenelopeApr 09,2025

According to a report from Bloomberg, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for their popular Harry Potter adventure game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to be released this year, along with a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, Bloomberg's sources indicate that Warner Bros. decided to cancel the DLC this week, citing concerns that "the amount of content was not substantial enough to justify the price being considered." Warner Bros. declined to comment on the matter when approached by Bloomberg.

This decision comes as Warner Bros. continues to restructure its gaming division amid financial challenges. Earlier this year, the company canceled its planned Wonder Woman game and shut down the studio behind it, Monolith Productions, as well as WB San Diego and MultiVersus studio Player First Games. Additionally, Warner Bros. laid off employees at Rocksteady just last September.

Despite the cancellation of the Hogwarts Legacy DLC, Warner Bros. has emphasized the importance of Hogwarts Legacy and the Harry Potter franchise to their portfolio. The company has repeatedly stated that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is "one of the biggest priorities," as they aim to focus on fewer but larger franchises. The original game has achieved remarkable success, selling over 30 million copies.
