Nightmare Echoes are powerful variants of the standard Echoes found in Wuthering Waves, offering unique advantages to enhance your Resonators' abilities. These Echoes are significantly stronger than their regular counterparts, making them essential for players looking to maximize their character's potential. While obtaining Nightmare Echoes is straightforward, the challenge lies in defeating the formidable Overlord-class enemies that drop them. Here's a comprehensive guide on what Nightmare Echoes are and how to acquire them.
What are Nightmare Echoes?
A Nightmare Echo is an enhanced version of the regular Echoes in Wuthering Waves, dropped by Overlord-class enemies, also known as 4-cost Echoes. These Nightmare versions come with distinct active skills and offer a crucial percentage boost to elemental damage. This elemental damage boost alone makes them far more valuable than standard Echoes. Moreover, since they provide this boost passively, Nightmare Echoes can replace a 3-cost Echo, enabling a powerful 441111 Echo composition.
Importantly, Nightmare Echoes retain the same Sonata/Set effects as their regular counterparts, ensuring that your existing character builds require minimal adjustments.
How to Unlock Nightmare Echoes
To begin farming Nightmare Echoes, you must first complete the Dream Patrol I quest in Rinascita. Start this introductory quest by speaking to the White Cat in Ragunna City after finishing Act 2 Chapter 3 of the Rinascita story questline.
Dream Patrol I will familiarize you with the Dream Patrols, an overworld activity in Rinascita. Upon completing this quest, the locations of all Nightmare Echoes will be marked on your map. Here's where you can find each Nightmare Echo:
Nightmare Echo | Location |
---|---|
Feilian Beringal | Requiem Ravine |
Thundering Mephis | Mistveil Bay |
Tempest Mephis | Shores of Last Breath |
Impermanence Heron | Twin Peaks |
Inferno Rider | Averardo Vault - West |
Mourning Aix | Averardo Vault - South |
Crownless | Penitent's End |
Once you defeat a Nightmare Echo, it will be added to your Echo collection under the Echo Hunting tab in your Guidebook.
Note that Nightmare Tempest Mephis and Nightmare Crownless are locked behind specific Exploration Quests:
Tempest Mephis: Where Wind Returns to Celestial Realms
- To start this quest, head to the Resonance Beacon south of Shores of Last Breath, then proceed north to the ruins. Look for a Lumiscale Construct on the ground and interact with it.
