On March 7th, 2025, Tripwire Interactive, the developer behind Killing Floor 3 (KF3), announced via the game's official Bluesky account that the highly anticipated survival horror co-op shooter would be delayed to a yet-to-be-determined date later in 2025. This announcement, which comes just three weeks before the planned launch on March 25th, was spurred by the results of a recent closed beta test.

"We've made the difficult decision to postpone Killing Floor 3's launch to a later date in 2025. After carefully reviewing the feedback from our recent closed beta, we've realized that we didn't meet our standards. Our aim is not only to push the franchise forward but also to preserve the core experience that our fans cherish," stated Tripwire on their Bluesky post. The team is now focusing on addressing key issues identified during the beta, including performance and stability, UI/UX, lighting, and the feel of weapons.

The gaming community has been vocal on social media about their dissatisfaction with the beta build, describing it as "insanely clunky and clumsy," and an "unpolished, glitch-ridden mess." A Reddit user, Captain_Pugman, expressed frustration on the game's subreddit, saying, "At what point did you forget what made Killing Floor special? Because right now, Killing Floor 3 looks like it's trying to be everything except the one thing it should be: a Killing Floor game." Other criticisms focused on the shift towards a futuristic sci-fi theme, diverging from the series' traditional horror roots, and the inability to choose characters and classes independently, as classes were locked to specific characters during the beta.

Tripwire concluded their announcement with optimism, stating, "We look forward to sharing a more refined version of Killing Floor 3 with you. As soon as we're ready to provide more details, you'll be the first to know. We appreciate your continued patience and support."

In response to the delay, Senior Community Manager Yoshiro addressed the situation regarding digital pre-orders on the Tripwire Interactive Killing Floor 3 forums. Once the delay is officially reflected across all platforms, the refund and cancellation process will commence.

For PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Game Store users, pre-orders will be automatically canceled and refunded without any action required from the user. However, PlayStation users in the United States will have the option to either cancel their pre-order for a refund or keep it for the new release date. If no action is taken within a specified timeframe, the pre-order will be automatically canceled and refunded.

Steam users who pre-ordered KF3 will need to manually initiate a refund by canceling their order and requesting a refund through Steam's support system. Those who pre-ordered through third-party platforms or vendors not listed will need to contact those vendors directly, as they will be subject to the respective refund policies of those platforms.
