MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a heartwarming detail: players won't be able to harm dogs in the upcoming game. This decision marks a significant departure from the studio's previous work, such as the Wolfenstein series, which featured animal combat.
"Indiana Jones is a dog person," Creative Director Jens Andersson revealed in an interview with IGN. While the game retains the series' signature action and adventure, the developers prioritized a family-friendly approach. Any canine encounters will involve scaring them off, not harming them.
Andersson explained, "It’s a family-friendly IP in many ways...We have dogs as enemies, but you don’t really hurt the dogs. You scare them away." This commitment to animal welfare is a refreshing change in a genre often characterized by intense violence.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 release slated for Spring 2025. Set in 1937, the game follows Indy's pursuit of stolen artifacts, leading him on a globe-trotting adventure from the Vatican to the Egyptian pyramids and beyond. His trusty whip will be used to disarm and subdue human foes, leaving our furry friends unharmed.
