Larian Reveals Exciting New Subclasses for Baldur

While many fans believed Patch 7 would be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has confirmed another substantial update set for release in 2025. Alongside crossplay support and a photo mode, the update introduces 12 new subclasses, each bringing unique mechanics to the game. Details about four of these subclasses have already been shared, and now we're diving into the remaining ones:

Oath of the Crown Paladin

The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and order, placing the welfare of society at the forefront. This subclass wields the powerful Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage to allies but also restores their health in the process. This unique mechanic makes the Oath of the Crown Paladin an invaluable asset in any party, ensuring that teammates remain resilient and ready for battle.

Arcane Archer

The Arcane Archer combines martial prowess with arcane magic, creating a formidable opponent on the battlefield. Their enchanted arrows can blind, weaken, or even exile enemies to the Feywild until the next turn. What's more, if an arrow misses its intended target, the Arcane Archer can adjust its flight path to strike another enemy nearby. This ability to adapt and strike effectively makes the Arcane Archer a versatile and strategic choice for players looking to control the flow of combat.

Drunken Master Monk

The Drunken Master Monk incorporates alcohol into their fighting techniques, turning what might be seen as a hindrance into a powerful advantage. Their signature move intoxicates foes, leaving them disoriented while simultaneously boosting the monk's own abilities. Furthermore, using Instant Sobriety on an intoxicated target not only sobers them up but also deals both physical and mental damage. This unique approach to combat adds a fun and dynamic element to gameplay, keeping opponents guessing and off-balance.

Swarmkeeper Ranger

The Swarmkeeper Ranger harnesses the power of nature by forming alliances with swarms of creatures. These swarms not only shield the ranger from harm but also assist with teleportation, offering unparalleled mobility and protection. In combat, the Swarmkeeper can deploy three types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions. Each swarm brings its own tactical advantage, with the bee legions capable of knocking back enemies who fail a strength check by 4.5 meters. This subclass provides players with a range of strategic options, making it a must-try for those who enjoy controlling the battlefield with nature's might.
