Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet promises to offer players a significantly more expansive experience compared to the studio's previous works. Drawing inspiration from Elden Ring, the developers are set to introduce a similar approach to open-world exploration. Journalist Ben Hanson shares that the game will be set on a vast single planet, where players will unravel the secrets of a lost civilization and delve into a new religion, which is central to the narrative. While it's uncertain how closely the game will align with traditional open-world concepts, it's clear that the team is steering away from the linear gameplay seen in their past projects.

The Heretic Prophet marks the studio's first venture where the player navigates the world solo, without companions or allies. Neil Druckmann emphasizes the studio's intent to evoke a profound sense of solitude in an uncharted universe, while also exploring themes of faith and religion. The story unfolds on the planet Sempiria, isolated from the rest of the galaxy for over 600 years, where bounty hunter Jordan Moon arrives on a mission.

Druckmann further notes that the development of the game has been influenced by titles like Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island. This suggests a move away from conventional guidance mechanisms, encouraging players to piece together the story's fragments independently.

Announced at TGA 2024, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet does not yet have a confirmed release date, adding to the anticipation surrounding this intriguing new title.
