Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 nerfs are being rolled back after player outcry. A hotfix, 4.1, will revert the most significant changes, addressing community concerns. The developers, Saber Interactive, announced the reversal and also revealed plans for public test servers launching around early 2025.
Patch 4.1 Reverses Controversial Nerfs
Following negative Steam reviews and community feedback, Saber Interactive acknowledged the backlash to Patch 4.0's difficulty adjustments. The team stated their goal with Patch 4.0 was to increase enemy numbers, not their health, but this negatively impacted easier difficulties. Patch 4.1, arriving October 24th, will significantly reduce enemy spawn rates on lower difficulties (Minimal, Average, Substantial), while making a substantial reduction on Ruthless. Additionally, player armor will receive a 10% boost on Ruthless, and AI bots will deal 30% more damage to bosses.
Bolt Weapon Buffs Included in Hotfix
Hotfix 4.1 also includes substantial buffs to the underperforming Bolt weapon family across all difficulty levels. The damage increases are as follows:
- Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
- Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
- Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
- Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
- Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
- Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
- Heavy Bolter: +5% (Note: The listing shows this twice, possibly a typo in the original text)
The developers will continue to monitor player feedback post-Patch 4.1 to ensure the game's difficulty remains appropriately challenging. The introduction of public test servers in early 2025 aims to prevent future issues.
