Exciting new details about the upcoming *Assassin's Creed Shadows* have surfaced online, following the apparent leak of an artbook titled "The Art of Assassin's Creed Shadows." First spotted on the subreddit r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, the leaked document has been making rounds across the internet and reportedly includes hundreds of pages filled with concept art, developer insights, and quotes that offer a deep dive into the game’s creative process.
Interestingly—and somewhat controversially—the leak is said to have originated from a website primarily known for hosting hentai content. While this unusual source raises eyebrows, it hasn't stopped the artbook from resurfacing across various file-sharing platforms and image galleries after being taken down from its original host.
IGN has reached out to Ubisoft for official comment regarding the authenticity of the leak, but as of now, no formal statement has been released.
What's Inside the Leaked Artbook?
Among the many intriguing visuals and notes found in the artbook are early designs for historical figures, detailed depictions of key cities, and a wide array of weapon concepts. The artwork appears to hint at potential plot points and narrative elements, though confirmation will have to wait until the game officially launches.
The timing of the leak is also noteworthy, arriving just ahead of the game’s scheduled release date of March 20, 2205—a delay from its original 2024 launch window. During a recent preview event, IGN spoke with *Assassin's Creed Shadows* Game Director Charles Benoit, who explained the delay was primarily aimed at polishing key gameplay systems.
"The Japanese architecture, the roofs [are] super complex," Benoit revealed. "Probably the most complex thing that I ever worked with if we compared to Odyssey and Syndicate. We needed specific codes and specific animations to support something super fluid, changing the transition of the parkour to make it even more fluid."
Benoit also noted that while only minor changes were made to progression and balancing systems, the team focused heavily on refining the parkour mechanics to ensure smooth traversal through the intricate rooftops and structures of Feudal Japan.
