After the "Visions of Truth" main mission, Dr. Shcherba contacts Skif, initiating the side quest "In the Name of Science." This quest involves locating electronic collars from various mutants. The quest features multiple choices impacting its outcome.

Locating the Electronic Collars

The initial objective is to find five electronic collars. Their locations are marked on the map, but if some are missing, you may have already collected them during other missions or exploration. Here's a breakdown:

The Jamming Device: Disable or Recalibrate?

Shcherba discovers a signal jamming the collars. He tasks Skif with investigating and disabling the device at the Storage on the Hill. Inside, you'll encounter poltergeists, zombified soldiers, and rodents. The choice is to destroy the jammer (recommended) or recalibrate it.

  • Destroy/Disable: The quest progresses, you receive coupons from Shcherba, and encounter a bloodsucker confrontation leading to another choice.
  • Recalibrate: You receive coupons from Dvupalov, and the quest concludes.

The Final Confrontation: Kill or Spare Shcherba?

Disabling the jammer leads to Shcherba contacting Skif, providing coupons, and promising future assistance. Wait (or use the console command "XStartQuestNodeBySID E08_SQ01_S3_Technical_SherbaInvitedToLab") for Shcherba's next call.

He'll give you Magic Vodka from Dvupalov. You'll then face three bloodsuckers and a final confrontation with Shcherba, who's holding Dvupalov at gunpoint. The choice is to kill Shcherba or let him go. Both choices yield the same rewards (a Gauss Gun and the "On a Leash" trophy), but sparing Shcherba maintains better relations.
