In an interview with The Verge, Hashino explained that unlike the typical streamlined UI development approach, Persona menus require unique designs for each individual menu. He cited the development of Persona 5's distinctive angular menus as an example, noting initial versions were difficult to read, necessitating extensive revisions.

The visually captivating menus of Persona 5 and Metaphor: ReFantazio are a significant factor in the games' overall identity, yet this aesthetic achievement comes at a cost. Hashino emphasized the considerable time investment, stating that "it takes a lot of time." This dedication to detailed UI design has been a hallmark of the Persona series since Persona 3, culminating in the impressive visual complexity of Persona 5. Metaphor: ReFantazio elevates this further with its painterly style, perfectly complementing the game's high-fantasy setting. While the process is undeniably demanding for the developers, the resulting visual spectacle is undeniably appreciated by fans.

Metaphor: ReFantazio launches October 11th for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are now open.
