REPO \"Duck Bucket\" Added in First Update to Fend Off That Dreaded Duck

REPO

REPO's developers have unveiled exciting plans for the game, including a much-needed "duck bucket" to combat the terrifying duck that plagues players. Read on to discover more about their upcoming updates and the insightful feedback from the creator of Lethal Company.

REPO's First Update Details

The Duck Bucket: A Weapon Against the Feathered Menace

REPO

REPO's first update introduces a new map and, most importantly, the "duck bucket"—a solution to the game's infamous duck problem. Semiwork Studios showcased these upcoming updates in a YouTube video on March 15th.

REPO is a 6-player online co-op horror game where teamwork is crucial for extracting valuable items from a terrifying world. Players face the constant threat of "The Apex Predator," a seemingly innocent yellow duck that transforms into a monstrous attacker when damaged or picked up. This terrifying transformation lasts 10 seconds before reverting to its normal, deceptively cute form.

The "duck bucket" will provide a much-needed containment solution for this feathered fiend, preventing accidental monster transformations and ensuring smoother gameplay for teams. In addition to the duck bucket, players can also look forward to new facial expressions and other quality-of-life improvements.

A New Map: "The Museum" and the Promise of Public Lobbies

REPO

Semiwork Studios also announced a new map, "The Museum," designed to test players' parkour skills. Extraction points will feature clearer visual boundaries, making it easier to determine if loot is within the extraction zone.

Responding to player feedback, the developers are actively working on implementing public lobbies. They stated, "As an overwhelming majority seems fine with matchmaking where you can either host public or private, together with a kick button, that's what we'll be looking into. Adding a kick button might sound simple, but it involves server coding, a new area for us." While this feature is a priority, the developers acknowledge the complexity and suggest it may arrive later than initially anticipated.

Lethal Company Creator's Feedback on REPO

Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to Lethal Company, another popular online co-op horror game. On March 15th, Lethal Company creator Zeekers shared his thoughts on Twitter (X), offering constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement.

He tweeted, "REPO is fun. At first I thought I didn't like it since I felt so slow (and voice chat range is too small!) But everyone in the group working together to move a grand piano through a cramped old mansion without scraping it--that is like the most funny objective for a horror game."

Further comments highlighted key areas for improvement: "I'll probably post more thoughts on Patreon, but I think #1. Voice chat range needs increased, and the muffling is too much. #2. The levels with vast open space don't suit the game's design very well (similarly to Phasmophobia); it shines most in the cramped mansion layout."

Zeekers also addressed concerns about enemies silently approaching players: "Yeah, there also needs to be an in-game way to learn about how enemies work, but I'm sure they're planning that."

R.E.P.O., currently the second best-selling game on Steam (behind Counter-Strike 2), has already achieved remarkable success with over 230,645 concurrent players. To stay updated on the latest news, check out the link below!
