This innovative design aims to transform the map into what Ishizaki describes as a "gigantic dungeon," offering a fresh exploration experience with every playthrough.

This mechanic isn’t just about variety—it’s designed to influence how players approach the final boss battle. Depending on their chosen path and selected boss, each journey through the world can take on a completely different shape. This choice opens up strategic possibilities, enabling players to tailor their preparation and explore specific areas that may offer unique advantages in combat.
Upon choosing a boss, players may consider the best way to prepare for the fight, which could alter their route on the map. We wanted to give players that freedom—for example, deciding, 'I need to acquire poisonous weapons to counter this boss.'
According to Ishizaki, integrating roguelike elements was not a move to follow trends but rather a deliberate design choice to enhance pacing and immersion. These mechanics help to “compress” the role-playing experience, creating a more intense and dynamic adventure without sacrificing depth or player agency.
