Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types
Freedom Wars Remastered allows players the flexibility to equip two weapons of their choice before embarking on an Operation. With six distinct weapon types available, players can craft a character build perfectly suited to their preferred playstyle. The freedom extends to combining any weapon types, creating diverse and strategic approaches to combat.
Three gun types and three melee weapons comprise the arsenal, each offering unique customization options. Certain weapons possess special charge-up effects, adding another layer of tactical depth. Here's a breakdown of each weapon type and its defining characteristics:
Weapon Types in Freedom Wars Remastered
New weapons are acquired through Operation completion or purchases from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrades' weapon choices are predetermined, players have complete control over their Accessory's weaponry. Weapon changes are instantaneous, with no in-game advantages or penalties for frequent switching.
Weapon Type | Traits |
---|---|
Light Melee | Quick attacks ideal for rapid combat against single targets. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife. |
Heavy Melee | Wide-sweeping attacks delivering substantial damage. Well-placed attacks can hit multiple Abductor limbs for amplified damage. Charged attacks launch the player into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed. |
Polearm | Attacks involve charging through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for high damage from a safe distance. |
Assault Weapons | High ammo capacity, making them a primary weapon choice for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne, enabling strategic positioning and long-range attacks. |
Portable Artillery | High single-shot damage with limited ammo. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed. |
Autocannons | High rate of fire with substantial ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, but the rapid firing compensates significantly. Reduces movement speed. |
Unlike player characters, Accessories don't have ammo limitations when using gun weapons. This strategic advantage adds another dimension to combat planning.
